Today is the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. A day that we should underline the concepts of love, respect, and understanding strongly and devote more time to fully absorb these concepts.

We are all aware that to participate in life equally and actively is the fundamental natural right of all individuals. Therefore, we should never forget that people with disabilities are inseparable and indispensable parts of our society. It is very important to be sensitive to this subject by removing the barriers in our minds and embracing differences.

In my previous “Turning points in my career” article, I mentioned about a disabled friend of mine at school, who challenged his physical disabilities and established himself as he is. I witnessed how he overcame the social barriers, moreover he “shone” with his differences in his social environment. This has been the most striking example to show me that differences can make people unique and bring them to the fore as well. Having a friend like him has been a turning point, not only in professional life, but also my whole life.

Taking the opportunity, I wish for a world without disabilities and a future in which the disabled citizens can participate in social life.
